Final Stats

Paige Virgara (Pittsburgh/Keystone Oaks) and Heather Robbins (Frederica, DE/Polytech) each netted goals for IUP but it wasn't enough as the Crimson Hawks fell to visiting Shippensburg 3-2 at IUP's South Campus Field on Saturday afternoon.

Virgara started the scoring for IUP early when she buried a rebound shot that fell on her foot off the arms of Shippensburg goalie Megan Delio at 2:51. The Lady Raiders got on the board with a Cassie Arnold goal that came on a scramble in front of the net off a Molly Sanders corner.

Robbins tallied her fourth goal of the season at 34:29 on a pass from Melissa Kornock (Hatfield/North Penn) cross to give IUP a lead at the half of 2-1.

Shippensburg scored two goals in the second half the first coming at 59:51 by Jen Bon and at 74:58 from Katie Leverentz.

The Crimson Hawks had several chances to tie the game with Robbins and Adrianna Konstantnides each just missing on scoring attempts in the final minutes leaving the score frozen at 3-2.

Kelly Brennan (Middletown/Middletown) took the loss in net allowing all three goals and making four saves.

IUP falls to 1-1-1 on the season and look to get back on the winning track Wednesday when it travels to Edinboro for a PSAC matchup.
