IUP opened its 2010 fall season with victories over Penn State Behrend and host Allegheny Saturday to win the Nancy J. Heath Invitational. The Crimson Hawks blanked the Lions 9-0 before coming back later in the day to post a 7-2 win over the Gators.

The teams of Emilia Osborne (Leighton Buzzard, United Kingdom/Cedars ) and Tabtip Louhabanjong (Krabi, Thailand/West Anchorage (AK)) and Kelly McBryan (Grove City/Grove City) and Alex Ballard (Akron, Ohio/St. Vincent-St. Mary) won both of their matches at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. The No. 1 doubles team of Katie Eaton (Halesowen, United Kingdom/Haybridge) and Ranvita Mahto (Burlington, ON/Robert Bateman) won their match with Penn State Behrend but lost to Allegheny.

IUP won all six singles matches vs. the Lions, including straight set victories by Louhabanjong, Mahto, McBryan and Miller Barmasse (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport). Eaton and Ballard were forced to three sets but still emerged victorious.

The Crimson Hawks had a little more difficult vs. the Gators, dropping matches at No. 1 doubles and No. 4 singles. But Osborne and Louhabanjong lost only one game in sweeping their matches, and Eaton, McBryan and Ballard won in three sets.

IUP plays three PSAC crossover matches vs. Bloomsburg, East Stroudsburg and Shippensburg next weekend at Clarion.
