Balanced Attack Helps Crimson Hawks Soar Past Millersville

Six different IUP players put theball in the back of the net as the Crimson Hawks reeled off their fifth straight win 6-1 over visiting Millersville Wednesday afternoon at South Campus Soccer Field. 

Melissa Kornock (Hatfield/North Penn) got the scoring started at 15:59 when she took a Carter Sheely (Carlisle/Cumberland Valley) pass and bounced the shot off the goalie and into the net. This is the fourth straight game that Kornock has scored for the Crimson Hawks (6-2-1, 4-2-1 PSAC). 

Sheely picked up the game winner, for the second time in two games, on an unassisted tally at 31:49. Lindsay Lobevero (Endicott, NY/Union Endicott) scored the first goal of her college career off a pass from Jordan Snook (Stewartstown, Pa./Kennard-Dale) to give IUP a 3-0 lead at the break. 

At the start of the second half Millersville (0-6-1, 0-4-1 PSAC) got on the board when Taylor Suskie scored at 47:29 from Allison Snyder. 

IUP answered back with three more second half goals. The first came when Michelle Grozinsky (Waldorf, MD/North Point) buried a pass from Allison Keller (Exton, Pa./Downingtown) at 49:36. Keller got on the board with a goal at 69:02 assisted by Kornock. Tori Pikur (Gibsonia/Pine-Richland) set the final on a cross from Kelsey Fisher (Selinsgrove/Selinsgrove) at 83:07. 

Kelly Brennan (Middletown/Middletown) picked up the win making four saves and allowing just the one goal in 69:02. Brennan was relieved by Kelsey Dowling (Fredericksburg, Va./Riverbend) who made three saves. 

The Crimson Hawks look to stay hot as they host nationally ranked West Chester at 1 p.m. Saturday at South Campus Soccer Field.
