Women's Tennis Soars to 8-1 Win over Chestnut Hill

MONROEVILLE, PA – Five different Crimson Hawks won a pair of matches as the women's tennis team rolled to an easy 8-1 victory over Chestnut Hill college in their first dual match of the season on Saturday afternoon.

The Crimson Hawks swept the doubles portion of the match, with Tabtip Louhabanjong (Krabi, Thailand/West Anchorage (AK)) and Katie Eaton (Halesowen, United Kingdom/Haybridge) winning 8-6 in first doubles, Tanya Timko (Cannonsburg, PA/Chartiers-Houston) and Emilia Osborne (Leighton Buzzard, United Kingdom/Cedars ) winning 8-5 in second doubles, and Abby McCormick (Bethel Park, Pa. /Bethel Park) and Erika Schnass cruising to an 8-1 victory in third doubles.

Singles action saw more of the same for IUP, as five of the six Crimson Hawks singles players were victorious. Timko defeated Kelly Dennis in three sets 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 at second singles, while Eaton defeated Maria Parapouras 7-5, 6-4 at third singles. Osborne defeated Morgan Oechsle 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4, while McCormick defeated Danielle Knott 6-1, 7-5 at fifth singles. Schnass gave the Crimson Hawks their eighth win of the match when she defeated Alexis Puhl 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6.

IUP (1-0) will travel to Millersville next weekend to take on the Marauders and Kutztown on Friday and Saturday before returning home for the IUP Campus Showdown on October 15.
