IUP Drops Non-Conference Match in Wheeling

WHEELING, WV - Despite 10 kills by Morgan Cerveny (Richfield, OH/Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy), IUP dropped a non-conference volleyball match at Wheeling Jesuit 3-0 (25-14, 25-18, 25-18) on Tuesday evening.

The Crimson Hawks found themselves down 7-2 in the second set before scoring eight straight points to take a 10-8 lead. However a six-point run and later a seven-point run by Wheeling helped them to the seven-point win.

IUP kept the third set close again, keeping its deficit at three until Wheeling went on a 5-2 run to go up 17-12. The difference would remain at five at 22-17 before a 3-1 run by Wheelling ended the match.

Carissa Miara (Pittsburgh/West Allegheny) had a game-high 19 assists for the Crimson Hawks, who accumulated seven total blocks (14 block assists) on the night.

The Crimson Hawks return to the court on Friday night at 7:00 p.m., when they play their first home match in nearly a month against Gannon in the KCAC.
