INDIANA, PA - Lauren Hester (State College, Pa. /State College) had a team-high 12 kills while Morgan Cerveny (Richfield, OH/Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy) added nine and three block assists as IUP had an upset win in three sets over Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division leader Gannon on Friday night at the Kovalchick Complex.

The Crimson Hawks jumped on top early in the first taking an 8-3 lead going on a six point run with kills from Beth Sova and Hester. Gannon rallied take make it 13-11 after scoring five of the next six points.

IUP then broke it open, going up 21-16 before winning the set 25-20.

Gannon held the lead throughout most of the second set going up 17-13 before the Crimson Hawks staged a rally to win the set 25-21.

Play was back and forth during the first half of the third set with the score tied at 11-11 before IUP made its move. The Hawks went on a four, three and three run before Hester's winning kill gave IUP the 25-22 victory.

Carissa Miara (Pittsburgh/West Allegheny) led the Crimson Hawks with 23 assists on the night while Emily Vaughn (Shippensburg/Shippensburg) had 20 digs defensively.

The Crimson Hawks (10-20, 4-12) are back in action tomorrow evening when they host Mercyhurst at the Kovalchick Complex at 5:00 p.m.
