Box Score

INDIANA, PA - Despite major contributions from seniors Danielle Ostendorf (Rockford, IL/Boylan Catholic), Emily Vaughn (Shippensburg/Shippensburg) and Stacey Root (York/Spring Grove), the Crimson Hawks were unable to defeat Slippery Rock after four intense sets during Saturday night's Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference matchup at the Kovalchick Complex.

The Hawks rallied back in the first set after being down 6-5, with Root leading the team on a eight-point run.  Morgan Cerveny (Richfield, OH/Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy) had four of her 13 kills in the first set which would help lead them to win the set 25-19.

IUP seemed as though they were going to rally back again in the second set after being down at two seperate times and then going up by two points, however The Rock was able to hold off the Hawks for the 25-23 win.

The Hawks began the third set 4-0, and went on a six-point run to go up on Slippery Rock 12-5. Ostendorf had four of her 14 kills in the third set, while Cerveny continued to dominate offensively as well. But again, The Rock was able to rally back and win the third set 25-23.

IUP continued to battle in the fourth set, making The Rock work for every point they earned. But too many runs by Slippery Rock proved costly for the Hawks, as The Rock came out on top 25-20 in the final set.

Root had a game-high 41 digs while Vaughn added 17. Cerveny had 13 kills offensively, and Ostendorf's 14 kills came on 27 attacks.
