Kelly McBryan (Grove City/Grove City) won at No. 5 singles and Emilia Osborne (Leighton Buzzard, United Kingdom/Cedars ) and Alex Ballard (Akron, Ohio/St. Vincent-St. Mary) teamed for a victory at No. 3 doubles for IUP's points in a 7-2 loss to nationally-ranked Mercyhurst Wednesday in Erie.

The Crimson Hawks are 10-4 overall and 0-1 in the PSAC West while the Lakers, ranked No. 44 in the nation by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, won their eighth straight match and are 16-3 and 1-0 in the division.

McBryan earned IUP's only point in singles with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Jenna Raynor. Osborne, Ballard and Ranvita Mahto (Burlington, ON/Robert Bateman) went to three sets before dropping their singles matches. Osborne and Ballard defeated Raynor and Courtney Thompson 8-3 in their doubles match.

Mercyhurst's Kim Ezzo, a winner over Tabtip Louhabanjong (Krabi, Thailand/West Anchorage (AK)) at No. 1 singles, is ranked eighth in the Atlantic Region while the Lakers' doubles combo of Ezzo and Bristol, who defeated Louhabanjong and Katie Eaton (Halesowen, United Kingdom/Haybridge) at No. 1, are ranked fifth regionally.

The Crimson Hawks are back in action Friday at home with a non-conference match against Seton Hill at noon and a PSAC West match against Edinboro at 4:30.
