Lacey Claar Named First Team All-PSAC West; Eryn Withers, Sarah Pastorek on Second Team

Lacey Claar finished her IUP career among the school leaders in many categories

Lacey Claar (Imler, Pa./Claysburg-Kimmel) concluded her outstanding career with her first-ever selection to the All-PSAC West first team while senior guard/forward Eryn Withers (Burtonsville, Md./Springbrook) and sophomore forward Sarah Pastorek (Johnstown/Bishop McCort) were chosen to the second team.

Claar was on the second team last year but moved up after ranking among the PSAC leaders in several categories, including second in free throw percentage (70 of 80, 87.5), seventh in assists (4.4), fourth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.6), sixth in 3-pointers made per game (2.1), 13th in 3-point percentage (57 of 150, 38.0) and 22nd in scoring (11.9).

The senior guard finished her career as IUP's all-time record holder in 3-pointers made with 215 and attempted with 544 while her percentage of 39.5 from beyond the arc is also first in school history. Claar also holds the top spot in career free throw percentage at 81.5 (243 of 298) and is third in assists with 390 and 12th in steals with 169.

She also ranked second on the team with 54 steals while her 118 total assists are the 10th most in one season in IUP history.

Claar played in all 118 games in her four-year career and started all 54 games the past two seasons. In addition to her career records, she holds three of the top four single-season 3-point totals including a record 74 in 2009-10 when she also set an IUP season record with a 3-point percentage of 42.8.

Withers was second on the Crimson Hawks and 21st in the conference in scoring this season with an average of 12.0 points per game while placing second behind Claar with 50 3-pointers. Her average of 1.9 makes per game from beyond the arc ranked her eighth in the PSAC.

Withers was also second on the team with 66 assists and third with 47 steals. She scored a career-high 26 points vs. Shippensburg and hit a dramatic 3-pointer at the buzzer to lift IUP to a 55-53 home win over the District of Columbia.

Withers saved some of her top performances for IUP's biggest games, including a run of eight straight points at the end of regulation that forced overtime and carried the Crimson Hawks to the last of their three straight PSAC tournament championship game wins over California in 2009.

Pastorek was recognized by the conference head coaches for the second time after earning PSAC West Freshman of the Year honors a year ago when she was also selected to the Division II Bulletin Freshman All-America team.

This year she led the Crimson Hawks in scoring (12.5), rebounding (6.9), field goal percentage (135 of 275, 49.1) and steals (56). She ranked 16th in the PSAC in scoring, 13th in rebounding, seventh in field goal percentage and tied for 13th in steals. Pastorek scored in double figures 20 times, including a career-high 28 vs. La Roche, and had six double-doubles.

Her career field goal percentage of 50.1 (214 of 427) places her 10th in school history entering her junior season in 2011-12.
