IUP continued a stretch of three matches in three days against regionally-ranked teams with a 6-3 victory over West Virginia State Friday night at the Ebensburg Tennis Center.

The Crimson Hawks were coming off a PSAC West win over Slippery Rock and will look to make it three straight victories when they host Charleston Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Maple Street Courts.

Charleston, Slippery Rock and West Virginia State hold spots two through four in the latest NCAA Atlantic Region rankings with IUP standing fifth. The Crimson Hawks are seeking their second straight trip to the NCAA tournament.

Katie Eaton (Halesowen, United Kingdom/Haybridge) and Kelly McBryan (Grove City/Grove City) both recovered from the brink of defeat to win their singles matches and help IUP defeat the Yellow Jackets. Eaton trailed 6-4, 5-2 to Andreea Slusarciuc at No. 1 and staved off two match points before rallying for a 4-6, 7-5, 6-1 win over the region's sixth-ranked player.

McBryan dropped the first set 6-2 to Eben Russell at No. 5 singles and faced four match points in the second set before storming back for a 7-5 win to even the match. McBryan then coasted to a 10-1 win in the super tiebreaker.

Tabtip Louhabanjong (Krabi, Thailand/West Anchorage (AK)) and Ranvita Mahto (Burlington, ON/Robert Bateman) both lost only three games in winning their singles matches. The Crimson Hawks began the match by taking two of the three doubles matches.
