Nell Jack Classic Brochure

The 26th annual Nell Jack Classic, the leading fundraising event of the year for IUP women's athletics, will take place Monday, June 13 at the Indiana Country Club. This year's honored guests will be the 1987-88 women's basketball team which won the PSAC championship.

Proceeds from the Nell Jack Classic are placed in a permanent endowment used solely for scholarships for women's athletics.

Several sponsorship opportunities are available, including single person, twosomes and foursomes for golf and messages on Nell Jack Classic signage. For people who do not wish to play golf, there is an option to attend the dinner or make a tax-deductible donation.

Registration will begin at 10:30 a.m. on June 13 at the Indiana Country Club followed by lunch at 11:30 and a shotgun start at 12:30. A cocktail reception will begin at 5:00 with dinner served at 5:30.

The 1987-88 women's basketball team which will be honored at the event featured four members of the IUP Athletic Hall of Fame, including Margo Hinton and Patti Connaghan, who were named first team All-PSAC West that season, as well as Jan Lightcap (Brocious) and Sherri Leysock (Williams).

The Indians won consecutive road games against Lock Haven, Bloomsburg and Millersville to capture the school's first-ever women's basketball title and berth in the NCAA tournament. They were led by Jan Kiger, who was selected the PSAC West Coach of the Year that season.
