EAST STROUDSBURG, PA – Melissa Kornock (Hatfield/North Penn) scored two goals, assisting on two others, and IUP broke open a 2-1 game at halftime with three scores in the second 45 minutes as the Crimson Hawks defeated East Stroudsburg 5-1 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) women's soccer action on Tuesday night.

The Crimson Hawks (4-0-1, 3-0-1) took the early lead when Viann Heder (Vandergrift/Kiski Area) knocked in a shot from Kornock just 8:24 into the match. After several attempts by the Warriors, with goalie Mara Hricik (Moon Twp./Moon) stopping a pair of shots, ESU finally found the back of the net when Carly Collins scored to make it 1-1 in the 27th minute.

IUP didn't allow it to stay tied for long, when Kornock knocked in her first goal of the game 3:22 later to take the one-goal lead.

Although the Crimson Hawks didn't score again before half, their offensive onslaught was on, attacking the net six more times before the first 45 minutes was over.

IUP got it going again quickly in the second, with Kornock scoring her second in the 54th minute and Adriana Konstantinides (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Regional) adding one in the 58th on an assist from Kornock and Heather Robbins (Frederica, DE/Polytech).

The shots kept coming for the Crimson Hawks, totaling 20 on the night, as Kelly Faller (Lancaster/Manheim Twp.) finished off the scoring with IUP's fifth goal in the 83rd minute.

Although ESU got of its fair share of shots on the night, Hricik came up strong with an eight save performance.

The Crimson Hawks, who rested just outside the NSCAA top 25 this week, host West Virginia Wesleyan on Thursday before getting back to conference play on Saturday with a home match against Gannon.
