Box Score Box Score

INDIANA, PA - Heather Robbins (Frederica, DE/Polytech) scored two goals in 45 seconds but the Crimson Hawks were unable to score the decisive goal in double overtime, falling in a heartbreaker to Edinboro by a score of 4-3 on Wednesday afternoon.

The Fighting Scots took an early 1-0 lead when Karisa Fernandez deposited a loose ball in the back of the net. The Crimson Hawks would respond in a big way, however, scoring three goals in the span of 2:32 to give IUP a 3-1 advantage.

Robbins scored her seventh goal of the season at the 29:42 mark, and turned a beautiful pass from Anna-Kate Depaolo into another goal at the 30:28 mark. The IUP scoring surge would continue less than two minutes later when Kelsey Fisher (Selinsgrove/Selinsgrove) set up Melissa Kornock (Hatfield/North Penn) for her eighth goal of the season.

The Fighting Scots would answer early in the second half when Fernandez scored her second goal of the game to bring the score to 3-2. An own goal by IUP in the 68th minute would knot the game at 3-3 and force overtime.

With neither team able to punch in the game-winner in the first overtime, the teams switched sides for ten more minutes of action, but with just under five minutes to play Samantha Kaiser found the back of the net to seal the victory for the Scots. Kelly Brennan (Middletown/Middletown) played the entire game in goal for IUP and had ten saves.

The Crimson Hawks (6-1-1, 4-1-1 PSAC West) travel to Clarion this Saturday before returning home on October third to host PSAC rival No. 3 Cal. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m. at South Campus Field.
