Friday Results

INDIANA, PA – Five of the seven Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying times came from IUP swimmers while they picked up the only NCAA cut time on Friday night after the opening session of the Crimson Hawk Dual Invitational at the John A. Pidgeon Natatorium.

Ashley McAteer (Irwin/Penn-Trafford) had the NCAA qualifying time, posting a 24.36 in the 50 free, good enough for the “B” cut.

Christina Janosky (Dover, Pa. /Dover ) and Ally Long (Frederick, MD/Frederick) each secured PSAC qualifying times in the 500 free, finishing with times of 5:16.71 and 5:19.95, respectively. Also for the women, Ally Mitidieri's time of 2:11.46 in the 200 IM was a PSAC qualifying time, although it was still five seconds off of her season best.

In addition, the women dominated their individual events overall, having the top four finishers in the 50 free, four of the top six in the 500 free, and two of the top five in the 200 IM.

On the men's side, Walter Smith (Annandale, VA/Annandale) and Doug McWhorter (Charlottesville, VA/Broadneck) each swam PSAC qualifying times in a tightly contested 50 free, recording times of 22.09 and 22.18, respectively. The pair finished second and third behind Gannon's Nick Wolhaupter, who posted a 22.03.

The men were also very successful individually, boasting the top four finishers and five of the first six in the 500 free.

The Crimson Hawks are back in action on Saturday as session two begins at 10:00 a.m. from inside the Memorial Field House. The invite's final session is set to start at 4:00 p.m.
