Box Score
EDINBORO, PA – Two second half goals by the Fighting Scots were too much for IUP as the Crimson Hawks lost to Edinboro 2-0 in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) women's soccer match on Saturday night.
Down 1-0 late in the game,
Rachel McCarriher (Glenelg, MD/Glenelg) had a chance to tie the game but her shot in the 90th minute was saved by Edinboro's Meghan Kelly.
With just a few seconds remaining, Edinboro got some help to make it a two-score lead as a mistake by the Crimson Hawks resulted in an IUP own goal.
The Fighting Scots dominated their offensive end, putting up 21 total shots on the night, including nine on goal. IUP goalie
Mara Hricik (Moon Twp./Moon) played tough through that with seven saves over the 90 minutes. The Crimson Hawks got off seven shots, four on goal.
The loss keeps IUP in a tie with Slippery Rock for seventh in the PSAC with 16 points, which would be good enough for the final spot in the conference tournament.
The Crimson Hawks (8-5-2, 5-5-1) are off until next Saturday with a road game at Kutztown. From there they'll play at Millersville before wrapping up the regular season on October 27 at home against Clarion.
