INDIANA, PA - The Crimson Hawks won every single match on Friday as IUP swept Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East opponents Cheyney and West Chester 9-0 at the Maple Street Courts.
IUP won every played doubles matches 8-0 and lost just nine sets all day, cruising to its first two victories of the fall season.
Emilia Osborne (Leighton Buzzard, United Kingdom/Cedars ) and
Tanya Timko (Cannonsburg, PA/Chartiers-Houston) won the top doubles spot in both matches, blanking Taylor Billington and Erica Kellem of Cheyney and Alison Fetter and Haley Wissinger of West Chester.
Abby McCormick (Bethel Park, Pa. /Bethel Park) and
Alanna McFail (Fort Washington, Md. /St. John's College ) won at second doubles against Cheyney and then were victorious in the third spot agains West Chester.
Katie Eaton (Halesowen, United Kingdom/Haybridge) and
Erika Schnaas (Mexico City, Mexico/Escuela Nacional Preparatoria ) would win at number two against West Chester.
In singles action, Eaton played at number one, defeating Taylor Billington of Cheyney 6-0, 6-0 and Alison Fetter of West Chester 6-0, 6-1. Timko went at the second spot for IUP, going 6-0, 6-0 against Erica Kellem of Cheyney and 6-1, 6-0 against Gabriela Durand of West Chester.
McCormick played at number three in both matches, defeating Cheyney's Jasmine Pitt 6-0, 6-0 and West Chester's Alexandra Santoro 6-1, 6-1.
Schnaas played at four against Cheyney, beating Jessica LaRoda 6-0, 6-1 then beat Nicole Nardi of West Chester 6-3, 6-0. Osborne played at four against West Chester, beating Wissinger 6-0, 6-0.
Ranvita Mahto (Burlington, ON/Robert Bateman) played at number five against Cheyney, beating Natasha Lyburn 6-0, 6-0. McFail got a forfeit win against Cheyney then beat Jami Dumler of West Chester 6-1, 6-0 in the sixth spot.
The Crimson Hawks are back on the court for the final time this fall next weekend at the three day St. Bonaventure Invitational.
