Scooter Renkin (Midlothian, VA/Blue Ridge) scored a game-high 13 points and pulled down six boards as the Crimson Hawks outlasted Seton Hill 63-55 at the Kovalchick Complex Sunday. Sr. C

Marcel Souberbielle (Montevideo, Uruguay/Uruguayan American School) each chipped in 12 points, while the IUP defense limited Seton Hill to just 37.0% shooting from the floor.
WORTH THE WAIT
After missing the first two contests of the season due to an illness, Renkin has made up for lost time with two sterling performances this week. He netted 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds in his debut against Alderson-Broaddus, and followed with 13, 6, and 3 assists in 37 minutes against Seton Hill. The redshirt-senior is shooting over 47% from the field in his two games this year.
LOCK DOWN DEFENSE
IUP is up to its usual tricks on the defensive tricks this season, ranking 2nd in the conference in scoring defense. The Crimson Hawks allow just 61.0 points per game and are 2nd in the PSAC in field goal percentage defense, forcing opponents to shoot just 35.2% from the floor.

Mathis Keita (Thionville, France/Insep) has continued his hot start to the season with a pair of strong performances a week ago. The transfer deposited a game-high 21 points and hauled in 8 boards against Alderson-Broaddus, before closing out the weekend sweep with 8 points, six rebounds and four assists against Seton Hill. Keita is 12th in the PSAC in Scoring this season, averaging 15.8 points per game.
NATIONAL POLLS
The Crimson Hawks are ranked 15th in the latest NABC Division II Coaches' Poll, up four spots from last week. IUP is the only PSAC school to be featured in the rankings this week, while Atlantic Region foe West Liberty claims the top spot in the country and garners 13 first place votes.
THE HEAD COACH
Joe Lombardi (Youngstown State, '81) enters his seventh season as the head coach of the IUP men's basketball program after leading the Crimson Hawks to a third consecutive PSAC regular season title and an appearance in the NCAA tournament for a fourth straight season in 2011-12. Prior to his time with the Crimson Hawks, Lombardi served as an assistant coach at Saint Francis (PA), Lasalle, and the University of Pittsburgh.
