IUP Breaks Six Pool Records in Sweep at Wheeling Jesuit

WHEELING, WV - Allyson Mitidieri (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) broke pool records in the 200 breast and 200 IM and IUP broke four other pool records as the Crimson Hawks men's and women's swim teams swept Wheeling Jesuit on Saturday afternoon in West Virginia.

The men won 139-123 while the women defeating Wheeling Jesuit 153-100.

Also breaking Wheeling Jesuit pool records for IUP were Rudy Da Costa (Durban, KZN, South Africa/Westville Boys') in the 200 back (1:55.74) and Steve Long (Greensburg/Hempfield) in the 100 fly (51.91). The men's 200 medley relay also set a new record (1:37.55) while the women's 200 free relay (1:40.96) broke their own pool mark from 1996.

Mitidieri's record breaking times were 2:24.75 in the 200 breast and 2:11.12 in the 200 IM.

IUP won 10 individual races, with two each coming from Mitidieri, Ally Long (Frederick, MD/Frederick) and Christina Janosky (Dover, Pa. /Dover ). The men won six individual events, including two each by Da Costa and Long.

Both teams are back in action in two weeks as they host the John A. Pidgeon Invitational from November 15 thru November 17.
