IUP Gets Back on Track with Shutout at Edinboro

EDINBORO, PA - Four singles matches went 6-0, 6-0 as No. 41 IUP had an easy time with a young Edinboro team in a 9-0 victory in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division women's tennis action on Monday afternoon.

The Crimson Hawks took singles spots three-thru-six all by 6-0, 6-0 scores, including Katie Eaton (Halesowen, United Kingdom/Haybridge) over RyAnne' Baldwin at three; Emilia Osborne (Leighton Buzzard, United Kingdom/Cedars ) over Kristen Garczynski at four; Erika Schnaas (Mexico City, Mexico/Escuela Nacional Preparatoria ) Candance Stone at five; and Ranvita Mahto (Burlington, ON/Robert Bateman) over Mimi Elliott at six.

Also getting easy wins in singles action were Tabtip Louhabanjong (Krabi, Thailand/West Anchorage (AK)) at one, defeating Oranza Carillo 6-0, 6-2 and Tanya Timko (Cannonsburg, PA/Chartiers-Houston) at two, beating Angel Pelehac 6-2, 6-0.

IUP also swept the doubles end, as Louhabanjong and Eaton defeated Carrillo and Pelehac 8-2 in the first spot while Osborne and Schnaas paired at number two for an 8-1 win over Baldwin and Meier. At number three, Mahto and Abby McCormick (Bethel Park, Pa. /Bethel Park) teamed for an 8-1 win over Garczynski and Stone.

The Crimson Hawks (12-6, 2-1) are right back in action tomorrow when they travel to take on Slippery Rock.
