PSAC Release
LOCK HAVEN, PA – The IUP women's tennis and men's swimming teams have been honored by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) as inaugural winners of the conference's team GPA award, as it was announced on Wednesday afternoon.
The award was established – along with the Champion Scholar awards – by the PSAC in the summer of 2011 and will be given out each spring to a team in each of the conference's sponsored sports that has the highest overall grade point average.
Women's tennis finished the year with a cumulative GPA of 3.607, the fourth highest average amongst all 21 teams on the list.
Tabtip Louhabanjong (Krabi, Thailand/West Anchorage (AK)) was the Elite 89 award winner at the NCAA championships in May with a perfect 4.0 GPA, while the team had a total of five 4.0 semesters during the 2011-12 academic year.
The men's swimming team earns the award with an overall GPA of 2.980, the highest among men's squads at IUP this year. Vince Hall earned a cumulative 4.0 average for the year as the team had 10 members make Dean's List in the fall along with seven in the spring.
IUP is one of five schools represented on the list, which also includes California (PA), Gannon, Mercyhurst and Slippery Rock, each a member of the PSAC Western Division.
