Adrienne Yoder's second-half goal helped the Crimson Hawks to a 1-1 tie Friday
Box Score

SHIPPENSBURG, PA - A second-half goal from Adrienne Yoder (Lebanon/Cedar Crest) knotted the game at 1-1 but the Crimson Hawks were unable to gain an advantage as the IUP women's soccer team drew with Shippensburg in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action Friday.

Despite an outstanding effort from the IUP defense all afternoon, it was Shippensburg who was able to strike first blood midway through the first half when Rhonda Runion knocked in a loose ball in the box to give the Raiders a 1-0 lead.

The lead would hold until late in the second half, when Yoder took a pass from Jordan Howerton (Prince Frederick, MD/Calvert) and polished off the goal to tie the game at 1-1.

Shippensburg had a chance at a game-winner in the second half when Rachel Hess had a clean look at the goal, but an outstanding save from Mara Hricik (Moon Twp./Moon) preserved the tie for the Crimson Hawks.

IUP was able to muster three shots in the first overtime period and four shots in the second, but the Crimson Hawks were unable to punch in a game-winner. Hricik was terrific in the net, recording eight saves in 110 minutes of action.

With the tie, IUP is now 4-1-1 on the season. The Crimson Hawks are back in action tomorrow evening at Cal. Game time is set for 5:00 p.m.
