Box Score

SLIPPERY ROCK, PA - The Crimson Hawks were able to muster 12 shots but were unable to find the back of the net as the IUP women's soccer team fell to Slippery Rock 2-0 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action Wednesday.

IUP was terrific on defense all afternoon, allowing just three clean looks at the net, but were unable to solve a stifling Slippery Rock back line. The Rock would draw first blood at the 59:04 mark when Kara Mullins took a rebound in the box and deposited the goal in the upper left corner of the net, but Mullins would have more in store.

Just three minutes later, she sent a beautiful cross into the box that Shelby Ward was able to knock in for the goal to give Slippery Rock a 2-0 lead with 37:53 to play in the game. IUP did have chances late in the game on shots from Rene Turkowski (Pittsburgh/Penn-Trafford) and Brittney Kuhns (Middleburg, Pa. /Midd-West), but the Crimson Hawks could not find a goal to trim the deficit.

Mara Hricik (Moon Twp./Moon) played the entire game in goal for IUP and had a save, while Tonya Fabian (Pittsburgh/Thomas Jefferson) led the team in shots with four. With the loss, the Crimson Hawks fall to 3-3-2, 0-3-1 in the PSAC, while Slippery Rock improves to 4-1-1, 2-1-0 in the division.

The Crimson Hawks return home this Saturday when they take on Lock Haven at South Campus Field. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m.
