INDIANA, PA – Kelsey Fisher (Selinsgrove/Selinsgrove) put the Crimson Hawks ahead in the 81st minute to complete the upset as IUP defeated 16th-ranked East Stroudsburg 2-1 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) women's soccer action on Friday afternoon at South Campus Field.

The game-winner came less than 14 minutes after the Warriors tied the score as Brittney Kuhns (Middleburg, Pa. /Midd-West) used her speed to set up a perfect crossing pass to Fisher for the score from 15 yards out.

The victory was the second in a row for the Crimson Hawks (5-3-2, 2-3-1), who are now getting back on track after a streak of four winless games (0-2-2). The loss was the first for the Warriors in PSAC play, who are also ranked second in the Atlantic Region.

All of the scoring would be done in the second half as Nikalette Fonseca (Murrysville/Franklin Regional) knocked one in off a drop pass from Tonya Fabian (Pittsburgh/Thomas Jefferson) for the first goal of the game, putting IUP ahead in the 65th minute.

It wouldn't take long for the Warriors to respond, however, as Carly Collins header off of a well placed free kick by Marissa Spitler made it a 1-1 game in the 67th minute.

The Warriors (4-2-2, 3-1-1) got a chance to take the lead less than 10 minutes later as a shot by Bridgett Connell was headed right for the net before Mara Hricik (Moon Twp./Moon) made a diving save to preserve the tie score.

That would set up the eventual game-winner from Fisher, as IUP held the Warriors to one final shot in the 88th minute that sailed wide of the net.

IUP held the shot advantage 8-6, outshooting the Warriors 3-2 in the first half and 5-4 in the second.

Hricik finished with two saves in the net for IUP.

The Crimson Hawks are back in action tomorrow as Bloomsburg visits South Campus Field. Kickoff is set for 4:00 p.m.
