INDIANA, PA- Another strong performance from goalkeeper IUP goalkeeper
Mara Hricik (Moon Twp./Moon) wasn't enough as the Crimson Hawks fell to Edinboro 1-0 on Saturday at South Campus Field.
Hricik saved seven shots, but one goal was all the Fighting Scots would need to find a win on the road.
No goals were scored in the first half as both teams set the pace defensively—a trend that continued throughout the matchup. Edinboro outshot IUP 4-3 in the first half, but both goalkeepers held strong.
Edinboro came out strong in the second half, and produced enough shots to keep the Crimson Hawks from getting the ball to their side of the field. The only goal of the game came five minutes into the second half when the Fighting Scots' Jansen Hartmann dribbled one into the corner of the net on a breakaway. The goal was assisted by Alexis Becker.
Edinboro's defense held IUP to just six shots the entire game, with only two coming in the second half.
Alyanna James (Newmarket, Ont./Newmarket) had a chance to tie it in the 75th minute but her shot hit the post.
IUP now holds a record of 5-6-1 overall and 4-6-1 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play. The Crimson Hawks will take on Alderson-Broaddus in their second non-divisional matchup of the season on October 15 at South Campus Field.
