WEST CHESTER, PA - In the last game of their three-game road trip, the Crimson Hawks struggled to put points on the board once again, as IUP fell to West Chester 2-0.
IUP came out strong, putting up two shots in the first 13 minutes, but it would be the strongest burst they produced through the game. West Chester outshot the Crimson Hawks five to three in the first half, but neither team was able to come away with a goal as both goalkeepers held strong at the net.
The Golden Rams didn't let up, putting up five more shots in the first 10 minutes of the second half. West Chester's Lexi Brown scored the first goal of the game in the 65th minute off an assist by Carly Yost.
West Chester's defense continued to stall a comeback attempt from IUP, before they put in their second goal. In the 78th minute, the Golden Rams' Lexi Lentz inbounded a corner shot and Carly Yost found the back of the net with a header. The goal put West Chester up 2-0 with just 12 minutes left to play.
IUP's Tori Pickur tried to revive the offense, putting up two shots in the waning minutes, but was unable to score. With three minutes left,
Kelsey Fisher (Selinsgrove/Selinsgrove) kicked the ball towards the net but goalkeeper Alexis Strolis stopped the shot, securing the victory for the Golden Rams.
The Crimson Hawks drop to 4-5-1 (3-5-1 PSAC), and will travel home Oct. 5 to take on East Stroudsburg in their Homecoming matchup at 1 p.m. at South Campus Field in the first of three straight home games.
