INDIANA, PA – The IUP women's soccer team snapped a five-game winless streak, claiming the Homecoming victory against East Stroudsburg, 2-1 at South Campus Field Saturday afternoon.

Mara Hricik (Moon Twp./Moon) kept the team in the game early, fighting off nine Warriors shots in the first half alone to keep the score 0-0 through one half of play.
Kelsey Fisher (Selinsgrove/Selinsgrove) got things going for IUP in the second half, scoring on a pass from
Tonya Fabian (Pittsburgh/Thomas Jefferson) in the top right corner of the net to give the Crimson Hawks the 1-0 lead.
The Warriors would answer quickly, scoring just five minutes later as East Stroudsburg's Shea Neal snuck one past Hricik during a scramble in front of the net.
The Crimson Hawks, however, battled hard and peppered ESU goalie Brittain Wagner with multiple shots.
Brittney Kuhns (Middleburg, Pa. /Midd-West) secured the win for IUP after 77 minutes of play, drawing Wagner out of the net and scoring the game winning goal on a breakaway. Kuhns' sixth goal of the season comes as she celebrates her 21st birthday and puts her in second place in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference in goals scored.
Hricik was forced to make eight saves in the game, helping the Crimson Hawks defense fight off 13 total ESU shots. IUP finished the game with 10 shots, seven of which came in the second half of play.
The Crimson Hawks will host the second of their three-straight home games Saturday, Oct. 12 as they welcome Edinboro in a 1 p.m. matchup.
