IUP is coming off three-straight wins against West Virginia Wesleyan, Notre Dame (Ohio) and Pitt-Johnstown. They are one of only three unbeaten teams in the PSAC West and one of only three three-win teams. Clarion is 1-1 on the season, opening up 2013-14 with a 121-64 smackdown of Penn State-DuBois but falling in their first PSAC action to the Pride of Slippery Rock.

CAREER SHATTERED

Sr. F Marcel Souberbielle (Montevideo, Uruguay/Uruguayan American School) shattered his career point record Wednesday, scoring 26 against the Mountain Cats. Souberbielle went 9-of-17 from the floor (.529) and 6-of-7 from beyond the arc (.857) making six-straight three-pointers. The Uruguay native added six rebounds, one assist and two steals. He now sits in fifth in the conference, averaging 20.3 points per game. He is 13th in field goal percentage (.477) and eighth in three-point percentage (.500). He is also fourth in the conference in minutes, averaging 36.0 minutes per game.

HOW'S IT LOOK DOWN THERE

Sr. G Mathis Keita (Thionville, France/Insep) is atop the PSAC in scoring, averaging 26.3 points per game, more than five points ahead of the second place scorer. In three games, the reigning PSAC West Athlete of the Week has scored 79 points, going 30-of-48 from the floor (.625) and 8-of-16 from beyond the arc (.500). Only two players have scored more points than Keita, with their 82 and 80 points coming in four games.

DOUBLING THE STARTING ROLE

The Crimson Hawks entered the game against Pitt-Johnstown without recording a double-double on the season. That changed against the Mountain Cats, as R-So. F Devon Cottrell (Pittsburgh, Pa. /Gateway) grabbed 10 boards and added 12 points to claim the first double-double of the season. In Cottrell's first season as a starter, he is leading the team in rebounds with 28 and blocks with 11, while averaging 9.3 points per game.

PSAC ON THE ROAD

Last season, the Crimson Hawks were 7-4 against PSAC opponents on the road, only falling to Cheyney, East Stroudsburg, Mercyhurst and Slippery Rock. IUP has outscored road PSAC opponents 736-677 in the last year. In their first road PSAC action of the year, the Crimson Hawks have gone 2-1 over the past two seasons, outscoring those opponents 215-198.

CRIMSON HAWKS BY THE NUMBERS

80.7

The number of points the Crimson Hawks are averaging after three games this season, fifth best in the PSAC (fourth in the PSAC West)

39

The number of consecutive games Jr. G Devante Chance (Philadelphia, Pa. /Electrical & Technology Charter) has played in and recorded at least one assist

26.3

The number of points conference leader Sr. G Mathis Keita (Thionville, France/Insep) is averaging this season, more than five points ahead of the second place player
