AT A GLANCE
The Crimson Hawks open up the 2013-14 season against Bluefield State at the Kovalchick Complex. IUP is coming off a 76-62 loss against Division I American in an exhibition game in the nation's capital. The Lady Blues will travel to Fairmont State Saturday for their first game of the season.

THE SERIES
This is the first meeting between the Crimson Hawks and the Lady Blues. Bluefield State is in its first year competing as an independent after the disolution of the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and will be a non-conference game for both schools.

NEW FACES
IUP welcomes a plethora of new faces to the coaching staff, with Tom McConnell taking over as the head coach. He is joined by assistants Rebecca Tillett (Forest Park High School) and Ryenn Micaletti (Point Park). McConnell comes to IUP from Division I Old Dominion where he served as an assistant coach.

WELCOME BACK
The Crimson Hawks welcome back an astounding ten players who averaged double digit mintues last season, only losing one starter. Six key retuners for IUP are Jr. G Lindsay Stamp (Erie, Pa. /Mercyhurst Prep), Jr. G Marita Mathe (Indiana, Pa. /Indiana), Jr. G Amy Fairman (Creekside, Pa. /Marion Center), Jr. F Ashley Stoner (Pittsburgh, Pa. /Thomas Jefferson), Sr. G Talen Watson (Odenton, MD/Arundel) and Sr. F Melanie Todd (Springfield, VA/West Springfield). Those six accounted for more than 67 percent of IUP's scoring for the 2012-13 season.

PICKING UP RIGHT WHERE SHE LEFT OFF
Last year's leading scorer Jr. G Lindsay Stamp (Erie, Pa. /Mercyhurst Prep), is picking up right where she left off at the conclusion of the 2012-13 season. In the team's exhibition game against American, Stamp led the team with 16 points, adding 5 rebounds, and shooting 6-17 from the field.

SHOOTING FOR THE CURE
The game against Bluefield State is the annual Shoot for the Cure game, aimed toward raising money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation of Pittsburgh. Raising more than $10,000 for the cause last year, the event is always a success.
