AT A GLANCE
After a hard fought loss at home on Wednesday night, the Crimson Hawks travel up to Clarion this weekend to battle the Golden Eagles on Saturday night. IUP is coming off an eight-point loss to No. 6 Gannon earlier this week after three consecutive wins while Clarion has won two straight, including a 56-55 upset of Edinboro last Saturday.

LAST TIME OUT
So. F Ashley Stoner (Pittsburgh, Pa. /Thomas Jefferson) went for a career-high 22 points on Saturday but Gannon outshot the Crimson Hawks in the 2nd half in IUP's 60-52 loss to the 6th-ranked Golden Knights on Wednesday. 18 of Stoner's points came in the 1st half as IUP went into the break with a 29-24 lead. But Gannon converted 48 pct. of its field goals in the second stanza compared to just 31 pct. for the Crimson Hawks, which proved to be the difference.

FIRST MEETING
4 different Crimson Hawks scored in double-figures, including So. G Marita Mathe (Indiana, Pa. /Indiana) who netted 17 points in IUP's 84-67 win over Clarion on Jan. 19. Mathe went 5-10 from 3-point range as the 23rd-ranked Crimson Hawks built a 42-26 halftime lead. IUP owns a 47-22 all-time record in the series with the Golden Eagles, winning 4 straight.

PSAC WEEKLY HONORS
The Crimson Hawks swept the PSAC West weekly awards on Monday as So. G Lindsay Stamp (Erie, Pa. /Mercyhurst Prep) was named Player of the Week and Fr. F Zhané Brooks was named Freshman of the Week. Stamp averaged 21.5 points and 6.0 rebounds in IUP's 2 wins last week while Brooks went for 13.0 points and 5.0 rebounds along with a 68.8 FG%.

CLINCHING A SPOT
With their win over Slippery Rock, the Crimson Hawks clinched a spot in the PSAC tournament next month. The newly expanded tournament format will feature 6 teams from each division and will begin on Sat. March 2. It will be the 8th straight year IUP has reached the conference postseason.

HITTING THE “3”
The Crimson Hawks are one of the best three-point shooting teams in the PSAC, converting at a 34.3 pct (124-362) clip through 22 games. With 5.6 made per game, they're on pace to threaten the school's all-time mark 3's in a season of 184 in 2004-05. At this current rate they'll need 33 games to do so but with a 28-game regular season and an expanded PSAC tournament and potential NCAA postseason run, this team record could fall this year.

THE HEAD COACH
Jeff Dow (Oregon, '88) is in his fifth season as the head coach at IUP, leading the Crimson Hawks to a pair of NCAA tournaments (2009, 2012) and a PSAC championship during a 26-6 debut season in 2008-09. Last Wednesday Dow eclipsed 100 wins in his IUP head coaching career (101-37) and has an overall record of 213-102.
