HILTON HEAD, SC – The Crimson Hawks had an easy time at each spot on Thursday as 35th-ranked IUP racked up a 9-0 win over Millersville at the Hilton Head Beach and Tennis Resort.
The Crimson Hawks improve to 4-6 and break a streak of two straight losses while Millersville falls to 3-7.
Two doubles teams picked up a pair of 8-0 wins, including
Tanya Timko (Cannonsburg, PA/Chartiers-Houston) and
Emilia Osborne (Leighton Buzzard, United Kingdom/Cedars ) at number two over Liz Wagner and Tori Davis and
Alanna McFail (Fort Washington, Md. /St. John's College ) and
Abby McCormick (Bethel Park, Pa. /Bethel Park) at three over Alexandra Heller and Jess Taleff.
Katie Eaton (Halesowen, United Kingdom/Haybridge) and
Erika Schnaas (Mexico City, Mexico/Escuela Nacional Preparatoria ) picked up an 8-3 win at number one over Melissa Plowman and Kelsey Waite.
In singles play, three different players picked up 6-0, 6-0 wins, including Eaton at number one over Plowman. Osborne also blanked Wagner at three and McFail shutout Maggie Karr at six.
At two McCormick defeated Waite 6-1, 6-2 and Schnaas got a 6-1, 6-3 win over Nicole Daacke at four. Ranvita Matho almost picked up a shutout at five, defeating Heller 6-0, 6-1.
Crimson Hawks return to the court tomorrow morning in Hilton Head as they battle William Jewell at 9:00 a.m.
