No. 44 Crimson Hawks Winning Streak Now at Seven after Shut Out of Edinboro

Tanya Timko improved to 18-8 overall and 10-4 in dual matches with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at number one today.

INDIANA, PA – The 44th-ranked Crimson Hawks scored their third shutout of the spring season as they defeated Edinboro 9-0 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West women's tennis action on Saturday afternoon at the Maple Street Courts.

It was the seventh straight win for the Crimson Hawks who are now 10-6 on the season and 2-1 in PSAC West play. Edinboro falls to 13-5, 0-2 with the loss.

IUP surrendered just three points in doubles play, including an 8-0 win at number three as Alanna McFail (Fort Washington, Md. /St. John's College ) and Abby McCormick (Bethel Park, Pa. /Bethel Park) got the best of Nevena Kulina and Lydia Brown.

Katie Eaton (Halesowen, United Kingdom/Haybridge) and Erika Schnaas (Mexico City, Mexico/Escuela Nacional Preparatoria ) defeated RyAnne' Baldwin and Kendal Stephens 8-1 at number one while Tanya Timko (Cannonsburg, PA/Chartiers-Houston) and Emilia Osborne (Leighton Buzzard, United Kingdom/Cedars ) beat Oranza Carrillo and Angela Pelehac 8-2 at number two.

In singles play, Timko got the call at number one, defeating Carrillo 6-1, 6-2 while Eaton defeated Baldwin 6-3, 6-2 at number two.

Osborne played at number three, scoring a 6-1, 6-2 win over Pehelac and Schnaas beat Stephens 6-4, 6-2 at number four. Ranvita Mahto (Burlington, ON/Robert Bateman) shut out Kulina 6-0, 6-0 at five while McFail saw action at number six, defeating Brown 6-1, 6-0.

The Crimson Hawks return to the court on Tuesday as they host rival Slippery Rock at 2:00 p.m.
