No. 44 Women’s Tennis Wins Fifth Straight Shutout and 11th Overall at West Liberty

WEST LIBERTY, WV – The Crimson Hawks didn't surrender a set as they cruised past West Liberty 9-0 in Atlantic Regional women's tennis action on Friday afternoon.

The shutout was IUP's fifth consecutive while the Crimson Hawks have won 11 straight matches overall dating back to March 21.

IUP also hasn't lost a single set in the last five matches dating back to the March 29 5-4 win over Grand Valley State.

In doubles play, Emilia Osborne (Leighton Buzzard, United Kingdom/Cedars ) and Tanya Timko (Cannonsburg, PA/Chartiers-Houston) scored an 8-4 win at number two over Emily Dawson and Alex Barr. Katie Eaton (Halesowen, United Kingdom/Haybridge) and Erika Schnaas (Mexico City, Mexico/Escuela Nacional Preparatoria ) followed with an 8-3 victory at number one over Lauren Howard and Raissa Wischi and Abby McCormick (Bethel Park, Pa. /Bethel Park) and Alanna McFail (Fort Washington, Md. /St. John's College ) defeated Christina Pauley and Sarah Howells 8-1 at number three.

In singles, Osborne finished first with an easy 6-0, 6-0 victory at number four over Barr. Timko came in with a 6-4, 6-2 win at number two over Wischi and Ranvita Mahto (Burlington, ON/Robert Bateman) defeated Howells 6-1, 6-0 at number six.

Schnaas also had a 6-1, 6-0 win, beating Pauley at number five. McCormick followed with a 6-0, 6-4 win over Dawson at three and Eaton finished things up with a 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 win at number one over Howard.

The Crimson Hawks will host West Virginia State on Senior Day in the final match of the regular season on Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
