GREENSBURG, PA – The IUP women's volleyball team dropped both of its matches in the first day of a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) crossover weekend on Friday.
The Crimson Hawks lost to Shippensburg in three tightly contested sets in the opener before falling to Millersville in four sets this evening.
The scores against the Raiders were 25-21, 25-22 and 25-23.
Stephanie Kruzynski (Oxford/Oxford) and
Meghan Schneider (Lake Geneva, Wis. /Big Foot) each had eight kills in the opening match against the Raiders, while
Lisa Kissell (Greensburg, Pa. /Greensburg Salem) added seven.
Kelly Barnes (Inver Grove Heights, MN/Simley) and
Carissa Miara (Pittsburgh/West Allegheny) had 12 and 11 digs, respectively. Miara had 28 assists.
Millersville took the first two sets 25-16 and 25-15, while IUP took the third 25-22 before the Marauders came back with a 25-16 win.
Elizabeth Sova (Myerstown, Pa. /ELCO) had nine kills and three block assists against Millersville while Kissell had six kills and Barnes had 14 digs.
The Crimson Hawks are back in action on Saturday with matches against Lock Haven and Pitt-Johnstown.
