EDINBORO, PA - Despite their fight in the second set, the Crimson Hawks were unable to overcome Edinboro in three sets Saturday in Edinboro.
IUP, coming off a 3-0 defeat by Slippery Rock Friday night, now has an overall record of 9-13. Last weekend, the Crimson Hawks finished the PSAC East/West Crossover 3-1, recording wins over Cheyney, East Stroudsburg and Kutztown.
Edinboro won Saturday's game 25-18, 25-22 and 25-13 against the Crimson Hawks. Lauren Hester (State College, Pa. /State College) and
Kaitlyn Palmer (Indiana, Pa. /Indiana) tallied a match total of six kills,
Elizabeth Sova (Myerstown, Pa. /ELCO) following with five, but they were unable to steal a win in their matchup against the Fighting Scots.
Lily McWilliams (Rockville, Md./Thomas Sprigg Wootton) and
Alexis Anderson (Cleveland, Ohio/Mayfield) both recorded three blocks, with Megan Schneider adding two.
Katie Miller (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) and
Lindsay Moeller (Troy, Mich./Troy) led the team with assists - Miller with nine and Moeller with eight.
Defensively,
Joie Hrapla (Pittsburgh, Pa. /Bishop Canevin) led the Crimson Hawks with a match-total of 15 digs. Following her was Miller with eight.
The Crimson Hawks still have seven matches to play in the 2014 regular season. They will see their next opponent Oct. 24 when they travel to Greensburg to face the Seton Hill Griffins. The team will return home Oct. 28 to host Clarion at 7:00 p.m. at the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex.
