Women's Soccer Slides by Clarion 1-0

CLARION, PA - A single goal by Taylor Vladic (Duncansville, Pa. /Hollidaysburg) earned the Crimson Hawks a 1-0 win over the Golden Eagles in Clarion Saturday.  

The goal came in the 49th minute of play, and was Vladic's second of the season.  Brittney Kuhns (Middleburg, Pa. /Midd-West) provided a cross pass for the assist, and allowed Vladic to score on the left side of the net.  

Overall, the Crimson Hawks outplayed the Golden Eagles.  IUP recorded a total of 21 shots throughout the 90 minutes with Clarion only attempting two.  In addition to Vladic, Crimson Hawks adding to the 21 shots include Riley Bartoo (Lima, N.Y./Honeoye Falls), Victoria Crawford (Port Matilda, Pa. /State College), Kate Numer (Lebanon, Pa. /Cedar Crest), Kelly Jacobson (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora), Lexie Palluconi (Penfield, N.Y./Fairport), Alyanna James (Newmarket, Ont./Newmarket) and Kuhns.  

This game marks the fifth shutout of the season for the Crimson Hawks with goalkeeper Jessica Printz (Fairfax, Va./WT Woodson).  Their previous shutouts came in matchups with Lock Haven, Bloomsburg, Pitt-Johnstown, Slippery Rock, Mansfield, and now Clarion.  

Saturday's win improved IUP's record to 9-5-2 overall, 8-5-1 in the PSAC.  

The Crimson Hawks will next travel to Gannon for a matchup Oct. 28 at 4 p.m.  They will next return home Nov. 1 for their last regular season game against Mercyhurst.  This game at South Campus Field, 1 p.m., will be senior day for IUP.
