GREENSBURG, PA - Despite a 25-18 opening set win, the IUP women's volleyball team could not take down Seton Hill on Friday night, falling to the Griffins in four sets on the road.
The Crimson Hawks dropped the second, third, and fourth sets by scores of 25-13, 25-14 and 25-17.
The blocking helped carry the Crimson Hawks early, as they totaled 12 on the night and forced Seton Hill into eight hitting errors in the first set. The Griffins, however, turned it around, hitting into eight errors the rest of the night and gaining a higher attack percentage in set from there on out.
Lauren Hester (State College, Pa. /State College) led the way with a team-high six kills to go along with three aces, nine digs and two block assists.
Meghan Schneider (Lake Geneva, Wis. /Big Foot) had four kills on 11 attacks with no errors, adding three block assists, while
Alexis Anderson (Cleveland, Ohio/Mayfield) had six kills and a pair of solo blocks.
Lily McWilliams (Rockville, Md./Thomas Sprigg Wootton) and
Elizabeth Sova (Myerstown, Pa. /ELCO) each added six kills.
Lindsay Moeller (Troy, Mich./Troy) had 16 assists and
Katie Miller (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) tallied 11.
The Crimson Hawks, now 9-14 on the year and 5-11 in the PSAC, travel to California (PA) to face the Vulcans on Saturday afternoon.
