MERCYHURST, PA - The Crimson Hawks drop in their seventh consecutive game 3-0 to the Lakers Saturday at Mercyhurst.
This loss brings IUP's overall record to 9-18, 5-15 in the PSAC.
Despite a close comeback in the third set, the Crimson Hawks fell in each set - 25-12, 25-9, 25-20 - to seal their fate against the Lakers.
Elizabeth Sova (Myerstown, Pa. /ELCO) led IUP's offense with a total eight kills. She was followed by
Natalie Cignetti (Indiana, Pa. /Indiana) with four,
Lisa Kissell (Greensburg, Pa. /Greensburg Salem) and
Lauren Hester (State College, Pa. /State College) with two, and
Alexis Anderson (Cleveland, Ohio/Mayfield) with one.
Katie Miller (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) and
Lindsay Moeller (Troy, Mich./Troy) each tallied a total eight assists.
Defensively,
Kaitlyn Palmer (Indiana, Pa. /Indiana) and
Joie Hrapla (Pittsburgh, Pa. /Bishop Canevin) led the Crimson Hawks with four digs each. Kissell and Moeller added three, with Cignetti, Miller and
Jenna Veverka (York, Pa. /Central York) totalling two each.
The Crimson Hawks will see their next competition next Friday, Nov. 7, when they host Edinboro in the KCAC at 7 p.m. for Senior Night. The team will finish its 2014 regular season next Saturday, Nov. 8, on the road at Slippery Rock.
