three victories this year.JOHNSTOWN, PA - The IUP women's soccer team defeated the Pitt-Johnstown Mountain Cats 2-0 Tuesday.
The Crimson Hawks, now 3-0, have successfully shutout their first three opponents of the 2014 season. Last week, IUP defeated Lock Haven in their home-opener and Bloomsburg on the road. The last time women's soccer opened their season with three straight shutouts was in 2001 against Geneva, Gannon and Shippensburg.
Tuesday's action started quickly in the ninth minute of play with IUP senior
Taylor Vladic (Duncansville, Pa. /Hollidaysburg) scoring her first goal of the season off an assist by
Kiersten Zerbe (Danville, Pa. /Danville).
The first half continued with IUP attempting six shots, and Pitt-Johnstown attempting two.
Victoria Crawford (Port Matilda, Pa. /State College) added to the Crimson Hawk's lead with a header into the goal in the 39th minute. This goal, assisted by
Brandie Bryant (Essex, Md./Eastern Technical), was freshman Crawford's fourth of the season.
The second half was quiet with both teams getting plenty of shots on goal, but neither team scoring. Crawford,
Cassidy LeDonne (Murrysville, Pa. /Franklin Regional), Vladic,
Brittney Kuhns (Middleburg, Pa. /Midd-West),
Jeanella Hughes (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Arcadia) and
Lexie Palluconi (Penfield, N.Y./Fairport) all recorded shots.

IUP returns home Saturday, Sept. 13, at the South Campus Field. The Crimson Hawks, looking for their fourth win of the season, will play host to Seton Hill.
