CLARION, PA – The IUP women's volleyball team dropped a straight set decision to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West division-leading Clarion on Tuesday night.
The Crimson Hawks fell 25-18, 25-21 and 25-15.
IUP held an 8-7 lead in the second set after a 4-0 run, getting a pair of kills and a block from
Elizabeth Sova (Myerstown, Pa. /ELCO). The Crimson Hawks kept it close, trailing 18-17 later in the set after another kill by Sova, and at 23-21 on an ace by
Katie Miller (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead), but Clarion pulled away to go up 2-0 in the match.
Sova finished with nine kills on 26 total attacks to go along with six digs and two total blocks.
Lauren Hester (State College, Pa. /State College) also had nine kills with 12 digs and
Lily McWilliams (Rockville, Md./Thomas Sprigg Wootton) added seven kills on the night. Miller assisted on 26 of IUP's kills and had five digs while
Joie Hrapla (Pittsburgh, Pa. /Bishop Canevin) finished with a team-high 15 digs.
The Crimson Hawks, now 6-8 overall and 2-5 in the PSAC, enter a long seven match homestand starting this weekend. They'll host Mercyhurst on Friday night and Gannon on Saturday afternoon.
