Women’s Volleyball Drops Three-Setter at Seton Hill

GREENSBURG, Pa. – The IUP women's volleyball team lost in straight sets at Seton Hill in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West matchup on Friday night.
 
The Crimson Hawks dropped scores of 25-12, 25-10 and 25-19 as they dropped their record to 12-5 overall and 5-3 in the PSAC West. The win for Seton Hill broke the tie these two teams had in the divisional standings prior to tonight's contest, as the Griffins improved to 15-5 overall and 6-2 in the conference.
 
IUP totaled 45 errors on the night, including 28 hitting errors as the Crimson Hawks hit a -.034 for the match compared to Seton Hill's .354. The Griffins also had 11 service aces in the three sets.
 
Junior Lily McWilliams (Rockville, Md./Thomas Sprigg Wootton) paced the Crimson Hawks with 8.5 points, finishing with seven kills and three block assists. Sophomore Natalie Cignetti (Indiana, Pa. /Indiana) also had seven kills while fellow sophomore outside hitter Alexis Anderson (Cleveland, Ohio/Mayfield) had six.
 
Freshman Jess Marut (Painesville, Ohio/Riverside) had eight digs. Redshirt freshman Elora Pittman (Jackson, Mich./Michigan Center) also had three block assists, while sophomore Gabrielle Egler (Pittsburgh, Pa. /Obama Academy) and junior Lindsay Moeller (Troy, Mich./Troy) each had two.
 
The Crimson Hawks return to the court on Saturday when they face off against California (Pa.) on the road. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
