INDIANA, Pa. – The Crimson Hawks finished with eight shots on goal, but only one could find the back of the net as they dropped a 2-1 decision to visiting Kutztown in a conference women's soccer match on Friday afternoon.
Sophomore
Lexie Palluconi (Penfield, N.Y./Fairport) scored IUP's only goal, tying the game at 1-1 in the 12th minute. The goal came off of a corner by fellow sophomore
Erica Boyle (Freehold, N.J./St. John Vianney), as the ball pushed past a group of players and found Palluconi on the opposite end of the net.
The goal was Palluconi's seventh of the season while it was Boyle's fourth assist.
The loss breaks the Crimson Hawks' three-game win streak as they fall to 5-4-1 overall and 4-3-1 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). Kutztown improves to 4-3-1 and 4-3.
The Golden Bears scored the game's first goal in the eighth minute and had the game-winning goal in the 58th.
IUP had nine total shots and three corners, but were called offsides on four occasions.
The Crimson Hawks are back in action on Saturday when they host East Stroudsburg. Kickoff is at 3 p.m. at South Campus Field.
