SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Crimson Hawks had 19 total shots against Shippensburg on Saturday, but not one was able to get past the Raiders' goalie as IUP dropped a 1-0 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) women's soccer decision.
The loss proved to be the final game of the season for the Crimson Hawks as they were eliminated from PSAC postseason contention. IUP ends the year with an 8-8-2 overall record and a 7-7-2 mark conference play.
Needing a win and some help heading into the day, IUP finished with 23 points in the league, five behind Bloomsburg, East Stroudsburg and Shippensburg (28), which had identical 9-6-1 PSAC records.
Seven of IUP's 19 shots were on goal, with junior
Kiersten Zerbe (Danville, Pa. /Danville) accounting for four of those (eight total shots). Sophomores
Mackenna Miller (Milton, Pa. /Milton) and
Erica Boyle (Freehold, N.J./St. John Vianney) combined for three shots on goal.
Junior
Jessica Printz (Fairfax, Va./WT Woodson) tied a season-high with eight saves, giving up Shippensburg's lone goal in the third minute.
The loss ends the career of IUP's lone senior, defender
Kelly Jacobson (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora). Jacobson played in 61 career games at IUP and was a part of 35 victories.
