Box Score 2 UPDATE: Sophomores
Alexis Anderson (Cleveland, Ohio/Mayfield) and
Natalie Cignetti (Indiana, Pa. /Indiana) combined for 78 kills in the Crimson Hawks' two wins over Notre Dame (Ohio) and West Virginia State. Anderson finished with 40, including a career-high 23 against Notre Dame while Cignetti also had a career-high of 20 against the Falcons, finishing with 38 on the afternoon. The two also combined for 11 service aces.
In the win over Notre Dame, the teams traded set victories, with IUP winning 25-19 in the first, 25-14 in the third, and 15-5 in the fifth. Against West Virginia State, the Crimson Hawks took a 25-20 first set loss before rallying with wins of 25-17, 26-24, and 25-17.
Senior
Meghan Schneider (Lake Geneva, Wis. /Big Foot) finished with 15 kills and seven total blocks. Junior
Lindsay Moeller (Troy, Mich./Troy) dished out 94 assists while finishing with eight kills of her own. Freshman
Jess Marut (Painesville, Ohio/Riverside) led the Crimson Hawks with 28 digs.
ERIE, Pa. - The IUP women's volleyball team won both of its matches on Saturday afternoon at Mercyhurst University. The Crimson Hawks defeated Notre Dame (Ohio) 3-2 and West Virgnia State (3-1).
IUP improved to 7-2 overall on the season with the victories. The Crimson Hawks completed their weekend at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC / Mountain East Conference (MEC) Crossover with a perfect 3-0 record.
