LIBERTY, Mo. – The Crimson Hawks didn't fall too far in the D2Football.com poll this week, dropping four spots to No. 13 as the Division II's media top 25 was released early Tuesday morning. IUP is also ranked 13th in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Coaches' Poll this week.
IUP is coming off of its first loss of the year, a 31-28 defeat at California (Pa.) in the eighth annual Coal Bowl on Saturday night. The Crimson Hawks (4-1, 2-1 PSAC West) entered the weekend ranked No. 9 in the media poll, while the Vulcans were ranked No. 16. Cal (5-0, 3-0) moved up to No. 11 with the win.
The top five in the media poll remain the same – Northwest Missouri State at No. 1, Grand Valley State at No. 2, North Alabama at No. 3, Shepherd at No. 4, and Midwestern State at No. 5.
This poll sets up a second straight ranked-vs.-ranked matchup for IUP, as the Crimson Hawks welcome No. 22 Slippery Rock (5-1, 2-1) to town for Homecoming this Saturday afternoon. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. from George P. Miller Stadium.
