LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Junior
Natalie Cignetti (Indiana, Pa. /Indiana) had a match-high 17 kills to help lead the Crimson Hawks to a three-set sweep of Lock Haven in a road conference women's volleyball clash on Saturday afternoon.
Cignetti tallied her 17 kills on 33 total attacks with just two errors, hitting .455 for the match.
The win was a strong performance after a Friday night five-set loss, with the Crimson Hawks improving to 18-8 overall and 9-6 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). Lock Haven is now 5-18 and 4-11.
IUP posted scores of 25-15, 25-23, and 25-18, forcing Lock Haven to hit just .037 for the match.
Senior
Lily McWilliams (Rockville, Md./Thomas Sprigg Wootton) finished with eight kills on 21 attacks with two aces and a pair of block assists. Freshman
Aryn Dubosky (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) and sophomore
Sami Brown (Lewisberry, Pa./Red Land) came off the bench and combined for nine kills and two block assists, and senior
Lindsay Moeller (Troy, Mich./Troy) distributed 23 assists. Sophomore
Jess Marut (Painesville, Ohio/Riverside) had a team-high 19 digs.
IUP kept pace in the strong PSAC Southwest Division with the win, staying just one game back of California and Clarion (10-5) while remaining tied with Seton Hill (9-6). Just three matches remain for the Crimson Hawks – all divisional matchups.
Next up for IUP is a road match with Clarion on Tuesday night. First serve is 7 p.m.
