Baseball Falls to Kutztown in Builder Invitational Opener

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The IUP baseball team dropped a 10-0 decision to Kutztown as the Crimson Hawks competed in their first game of the 2016 Builder Invitational at The Apprentice School's War Memorial Stadium.

Kutztown scored in each of the first six innings – including five in the first - of the seven inning game as the Crimson Hawks fell to 1-4 this spring.

IUP totaled three hits, including a double from left fielder Chris Schaedel (Naples, Fla./Barron Collier). Freshman right hander Jeff Allen (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg Area) got the start, striking out five but giving up six earned runs in four innings of work.

The Crimson Hawks continue the five-game tournament on Friday with games against the College of Saint Joseph (3 p.m.) and Bloomsburg (6 p.m.).
