INDIANA, Pa. – Freshman Adrian Greco scored five goals and goalkeeper
Angela Lontoc (Columbus, Ohio/Dublin Scioto) stopped 14 shots as No. 14 IUP defeated No. 19 East Stroudsburg, 15-8, on Senior Day.
Prior to the game, Mercyhurst defeated Lock Haven, locking IUP into the third seed in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference playoffs. The Crimson Hawks open the playoffs against the sixth-seeded team Saturday, April 30, with a home game at George P. Miller Stadium.
Greco's five goals are the second-most in a game for her on the season. Her season total is now up to 35, which is tied with junior
Kim Hooven (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) for second-most on the team.
The Crimson Hawks never trailed and led 7-2 with seven minutes remaining in the first half. Weinberg got the IUP offense started just under six minutes into the game with a goal, her 16th of the season.
Freshman and leading-scorer
Ally Burrows (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) scored twice in the first half, while sophomore
Bailey McLeish (Courtice, Ontario/Anderson C.V.I) came off the bench to score two goals in a two-minute span.
Amy Weinberg (Clarksville, Md./Atholton), already the all-time leader in assists in the PSAC, handed out three more to bring her career total to 201. Fellow senior
Brittney Palardy (Perry Hall, Md./Perry Hall) scored once and handed out two assists.
With the win, IUP finishes out the regular season at 12-5 overall and 10-2 in the PSAC.
Before the game, the Crimson Hawks honored their six seniors: Palardy, Weinberg, defenders
Erin Ketchum (Lititz, Pa./Manheim Township) and
Brenna Gallagher (Evans City, Pa./Seneca Valley), and attackers
Maddie Poehlman (Ellicott City, Md./Seton Keough (Howard C.C.)) and
Tara Nicholas (Germantown, Md./Northwest).
