ERIE, Pa. – Redshirt sophomore guard
Lauren Wolosik (Pittsburgh, Pa. /North Catholic) scored a team-high 17 points and the Crimson Hawks overcame some early foul issues to fight through a 64-54 road win over Mercyhurst on Monday night.
The win was IUP's 11th straight and broke up a three-way tie for first place in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division. The Crimson Hawks are now in a two-way with Edinboro for the top spot in the division with 9-0 league records.

Wolosik picked up two early fouls and had five first half turnovers, but rallied to score 12 points in the final 20 minutes as IUP outscored the Lakers 37-26. Wolosik was a perfect shooter in the second half, going 3-of-3 from the field, making a pair of three-pointers, and also went 4-of-4 from the foul line.
Facing a 28-27 halftime deficit, the Crimson Hawks outscored the Lakers 16-6 in the third quarter to take a nine-point lead to the fourth. IUP ended the period on a 10-2 run and held Mercyhurst scoreless for nearly five minutes.
IUP then held off a slew of Mercyhurst three-pointers in the fourth quarter by scoring 21 points, going 7-of-9 from the foul line.

Halle Denman (Beaver Falls, Pa. /Blackhawk) had a season-high nine points to go along with five rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Sophomore guard
Carolyn Appleby (Greensburg, Pa. /Greensburg Central Catholic) had a team-high eight rebounds while freshman forward
Maura D'Anna (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) chipped in eight points and seven boards.

The Crimson Hawks end their three-game road trip on Wednesday when they head to Millersville (6-8, 4-5) for a PSAC divisional crossover. Tipoff is 5:30 p.m.
