INDIANA, Pa. – Four different players were in the scoring column as the Crimson Hawks cruised to an easy 4-1 win over visiting Edinboro in conference women's soccer action on Friday afternoon at South Campus Field.
Freshman goalie
Makenzie Witzel (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) stopped four shots and gave up just one score in the fast-paced match, as IUP improved to 8-4 overall and 7-4 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC).
The Crimson Hawks scored a pair of goals in each half, with
Gianna Parlavecchio (Florham Park, N.J./Hanover Park) getting IUP on the board in the second minute after a long outlet pass from Witzel. It was Parlavecchio's third goal of the year.
Kallie Conte (Pittsburgh, Pa./Moon Area) made it a 2-0 match with another breakaway goal in the 37th minute, beating the Edinboro goalie between the legs for her second score of the year.
In the 51st,
Hannah Stoof (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) made an unbelievable free kick from midfield, lofting it over Boro's keeper to extend the lead to 3-0.
The Fighting Scots (4-5-3, 3-5-3 PSAC) scored their goal a few minutes later, but the Crimson Hawks extended their lead back to three when
Lexie Palluconi (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) threaded the back of the net in the top right corner for her fourth goal of the fall.
