ORLANDO, Fla. – No. 28 IUP women's tennis wrapped up its spring break trip on Friday, dropping a 6-3 decision to Palm Beach Atlantic at the USTA National Campus.
The loss was the fourth straight for the Crimson Hawks, who scheduled top out-of-region teams during their week-long visit to Florida. They fall to 5-4 on the year as they head back towards home this weekend.
The No. 2 team of
Raquel Gonzalez (San Sebastian, Spain/Colegio Sagrado Corazon) and
Rachel Wood (Nottingham, U.K./West Bridgrord) picked up IUP's lone doubles win with an easy 8-2 victory over PBU's Leoni Polzin and Michala Burns.
Luise von Agris (Castrop-Rauxel, Germany/Adalbet-Stifter-Gymnasium) and
Sophie Butland (Taunton, Somerset, U.K./Bishop Fox's Community School) secured singles victories to round out the Crimson Hawks' scoring. The 50th-ranked player in the nation, von Agris posted a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 2 over Polzin. Butland picked up her win at No. 6, defeating Maja Jovic 6-2, 6-2.
